Kathryn Hulings, MA Creative Nonfiction 2012 and current CSU instructor, was a top ten finalist in the Boulder Writers’ Workshop 2013 Comedy Writing Contest for her essay, “My Bra.” She read her work at the Member Showcase on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Boulder. “My Bra” will also be published in an upcoming issue of the Flatirons Literary Review. Kathryn Hulings’ book-length nonfiction MA thesis about life with her son, Explaining Sex While Waiting for a Table at Olive Garden: Adventures in Raising Michael Who Has Down Syndrome, will be published by University of North Texas Press in July of 2013. This memoir wraps itself around the raucous joy of Michael’s existence along with his four older siblings who all play hard and love big. A 2012-2013 Special Instructor, Kathryn is a member of the CSU Creative Nonfiction MA program’s first official class, having graduated in May of 2012.
